Counseling for Panic Disorder

Panic Disorder Therapy for Young Adults in Colorado

Maybe it’s happened once, or maybe it's happened many times - all you know is you are so scared it will happen again. Panic attacks are the worst feeling in the world and you feel like you’d go to any measure to prevent it from happening again, even if it means not leaving the house.

As you start to avoid the things that make you feel anxious, you feel relief at first - “phew, I don’t have to deal with that after all” - but then you start to feel like your life is shrinking, getting smaller and smaller. You want so desperately to live a life of meaning, to not live in fear. You have goals and ambitions and would love to be able to move forward, but it feels impossible sometimes.

I help people who are experiencing panic attacks to feel more confident and in control, so they can truly move forward in their lives.

We will work together to develop skills that help you feel more confident in your ability to ride the scary waves, and also prevent panic attacks in the future. I use the evidence-based models Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as mindfulness techniques, as these approaches have all been proven to be effective in treating panic disorder. I also enjoy using elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) as this helps us gain a deeper understanding of why these feelings have developed, and to cultivate self-compassion and nurturing.

The people I work with report feeling more equipped with skills and tools to manage their feelings of panic, and also more confident that they really can face their fears and not only survive, but also thrive in their lives.
