About Me
Alison deLassus, LCSW (she/her)
I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Colorado. I received my Master's degree in Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2017 and my license (LCSW) in 2019. I have worked in community mental health, residential facilities, and schools, which has given me the enriching experience of working with people from all walks of life.
I am constantly in awe of the people I work with; we face so many difficulties and obstacles in life, yet we have this incredible resilience through it all. We all need support sometimes (that is the human in us!), and I am honored to support people on their unique journeys. I am deeply passionate about mental health and well-being, and am continually learning and growing both as a person and as a therapist.
In my free time I enjoy practicing yoga, playing with my kiddos, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and dancing like nobody's watching to my favorite music (all kinds, but mostly classic rock!).
My Therapeutic Approach
While I enjoy pulling from the evidence-based treatments listed below, I believe one of my strongest assets is that I embrace our shared humanity and am a fellow human alongside you on your journey. My top priority is creating a warm and welcoming space where you can show up exactly as you are. That being said, here are the approaches that inform my practice the most:
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is defined as paying attention to the present moment without judgment and without attachment. The benefits of mindfulness include reduced suffering and increased happiness, increased control of your mind, and experiencing reality as it is. There are endless ways to practice mindfulness as it truly is a skill you can use at any moment.
Parts Work/ IFS
Internal Family Systems (IFS) embraces that we are complex beings and have multiple parts (personality traits/thoughts/feelings/etc), and regards these parts like members in a family, all impacting the whole. This framework uses mindfulness techniques and curiosity to explore the many parts of us, fostering self-understanding and compassion.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a skills-based therapy that focuses on cultivating mindfulness, regulating emotions, coping with distress and intense emotions in a healthy way, and improving relationships and communication with others.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a therapy that focuses on the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; revealing unhelpful thought patterns and restructuring them in a way that is more effective and empowering, ultimately creating more self-awareness and control.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP involves gradual exposure to feared situations and stressors, while intentionally delaying or refraining from compulsive behaviors. This helps build up tolerance to discomfort, which over time rewires the brain and decreases fear.
