Counseling for Anxiety
Sometimes you wish your brain had an “off” switch. You frequently find yourself spiraling into your thoughts, whether it’s worry, panic, or obsession. It's exhausting and you wish it would stop, but it feels out of your control.
You try to channel your anxiety into being productive, but you're full of self-doubt. That relentless inner voice is saying: “I’m never going to be good enough”, “why did I say that?”, “I’m going to mess everything up”, “nobody likes me”, “everyone else has it figured out”, “I’m not (smart/attractive/fill-in-the-blank) enough”, etc. And while all this is going on in your head, on the outside you seem totally fine. People assume you have it all figured out, but they don't know what's going on under the surface. You feel so uncomfortable and far from confident, even though you wish you could be.
I help people experiencing anxiety develop more control, confidence, and peace of mind.
We will work together to uncover underlying causes of your anxiety and identify effective coping skills and tools that help you feel more relaxed and able to control your thoughts and worry. I use the evidence-based models Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as mindfulness techniques. These approaches have all been proven to be effective in treating anxiety.
I strive to create a warm, safe space for you to go through the ebbs and flows, while providing empathy, insight, and support. I am a strong believer in your innate wisdom and will help you uncover it and draw upon it throughout your therapy process. The people I work with develop more self-awareness, higher confidence in themselves, and more peace of mind as they strengthen their ability to cope with their experiences.
